With mega encouragement from my kids, George's nephews, Brian and David Funk, we are putting up this blog-of-sorts for memories and connections to the late Gorgeous George Cady, temporary resident and collector of useables and multitudinous friends and characters in Athens and surrounding counties. ReplyDeleteATHENS - George Cady, 61, of Athens, passed at the OSU James Cancer Hospital on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. Born May 5, 1949, he was the son of the late Prof. John and Vivian Cady. He graduated from Athens High School in 1967 and attended Ohio University. He worked as a surveyor and was an all-around great guy, friend and neighbor.
George is survived by his sister, Susan Cady of Cleveland; a brother, Tom of Columbus; two nephews, Brian Funk of Washington DC, and David Funk of Cleveland; and a niece, JanaLea Cady of Bloomington, Ind.
A celebration of his life and humor will take place on May 14, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Strouds Run State Park for a potluck picnic and gentle roast, with costumes, song and dance party. Contribute your memories and stories to www.GeorgeCadyCharactersWelcome.blogspot.com
